The 2020 Virtual McKinley Fundraiser is on Thursday, October 22nd!

This year our McKinley Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser is VIRTUAL! We are asking all students to run for 20-30 minutes in their neighborhood, along with their families, on Thursday, October 22, 2020!

The McKinley Parent Teacher Club’s JOG-A-THON is one of our school’s BIGGEST fundraisers and your support is vital. Most importantly, this is the only event where the kids take the lead in raising money for their school. Did you know that ALL of McKinley’s dance, art, and Spanish programs are no longer funded by the school district? The only reason our kids get to participate in these programs is because we raise the money to fund them. 

YOU CAN HELP! GET SPONSORS!
We are asking students who are able and willing to participate to get their families, friends, neighbors, and community to sponsor them in the JOG-A-THON. We are asking for flat donations from sponsors (e.g. $25 for the whole event).

Donations can be made online using debit cards, credit cards or PayPal. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we can only accept ONLINE DONATIONS this year! We can no longer accept cash or checks. We have no way to collect donations in person or at the school.

ONLINE
PledgeStar is our web-based fundraising tool. In addition to being easy to register and use, PledgeStar takes care of sending sponsor requests via email, notifies you of donations, and sends thank you messages to sponsors. The Jog-A-Thon Info Packet 2020 (English Y Espanol) has more information. Instructions on how to use Pledgestar can be found below.

T-Shirts
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are not doing Jog-A-Thon t-shirts this year. To ensure the safety of all students, teachers, staff and parents, we are trying to eliminate all in person events related to the Jog-A-Thon this year.

Prizes:
• Virtual Class Party: Class that raises the most money!
• Raffle Prizes: Every student gets 1 raffle ticket for participating!

THE DAY OF THE EVENT
We are asking every student to run for 20-30 minutes in their neighborhood with their family on Thursday October 22nd, 2020! Please take pictures and videos! Share your pictures and videos to jogathonmckinley@gmail.com, you can also post them on McKinley’s Photo Sharing site. Don’t forget to post them on social media too!

Parents: If your child has any physical restrictions such as asthma or other respiratory problems or even if they just don’t like to run a lot, please let them know it is perfectly okay to walk or sit down if needed.

Instructions on how to use Pledgestar:
For our Jog-A-Thon we’re using an awesome web-based fundraising system that makes it much easier for you to request pledges from your family and friends, and for them to make secure credit card donations online. It’s fun, it’s easy, and this year it’s the only way to raise money! We cannot accept cash or checks this year.

Remember, our Jog-A-Thon is Thursday October 22nd, 2020 so please REGISTER NOW to help our school raise as much as we can for our Art Program, Dance, Spanish and so much more!

• Go to http://pledgestar.com/mckinley
• Click “Not Registered for this Event?”, then enter your name and email address (every family needs to register again each year)
• Follow the instructions on-screen

When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends allowing them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online.
