McKinley JOG-A-THON Fundraiser
One of the Biggest School
Fundraising Events of the Year!
Week of Oct 25-29th, 2021

This year our McKinley Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser will take place during your child’s PE class during the week of Oct 25th-29th. This will ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate and be able to run with their classmates!

The McKinley Parent Teacher Club’s JOG-A-THON is one of our school’s BIGGEST fundraisers and your support is vital. Most importantly this is the only event where the kids take the lead in raising money for their school. Did you know that ALL of McKinley’s art, ceramics, dance, garden, music, and Spanish programs are no longer funded by the school district? The only reason our kids get to participate in these programs is because we raise the money to fund them.

We are asking students who are able and willing to participate to get their families, friends, neighbors, and community to sponsor them in the JOG-A-THON. We are asking for flat donations from sponsors (e.g. $25 for the whole event).

Donations can be made online using debit cards, credit cards or PayPal. We can accept personal checks made out to “McKinley School Foundation” which can be turned into the McKinley PTC lock box in the front office. Please specify “Jog-A-Thon” in the memo. No cash will be accepted this year.

PledgeStar is our web-based fundraising tool. In addition to being easy to register and use, PledgeStar takes care of sending sponsor requests via email, notifies you of donations, and sends thank you messages to sponsors.

• Go to
• Click “Not Registered for this Event?”, then enter your name and email address (every family needs to register again each year)
• Follow the instructions on-screen

When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends allowing them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online.

All students, teachers and staff will be receiving a FREE Jog-A-Thon t-shirt! In the past, students had to purchase them or earn them by raising a certain amount of money. We feel strongly that all students should have a free t-shirt to wear to the event to show their McKinley spirit and foster a sense of community.

We are changing the prizes this year to emphasize how much we can raise as a whole school rather than individual merit. The prizes will reflect the different aspects of the Wheel.

If we raise a total of:

$60,000 – Plant Fruit Trees in the McKinley Garden (GARDEN)
$70,000 – Lunch-time Mariachi Band (SPANISH, MUSIC)
$80,000 – Classroom Dance party (DANCE)
$90,000- School Mural (ART)

Top runners from each grade level will be recognized.
Top fundraising classroom will receive a trophy.
Every student will be entered for raffle prizes

This year, in keeping in line with COVID-19 guidelines, students will be running on the track during their PE class with Ms. Tennies during the week of Oct 25-29th with their classmates.

Ms. Tennies will be monitoring students as she normally does during her PE classes to ensure they do not overexert themselves. Mask breaks can be taken while running provided the student is 6 feet away from other students. We encourage all students to bring water bottles that day to ensure proper hydration.

Parents: If your child has any physical restrictions such as asthma or other respiratory problems or even if they just don’t like to run a lot, please let them know it is perfectly okay to walk or rest if they feel the need. Please notify the office of any special accommodations.

Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions we cannot have parent volunteers on campus to help with the event this year.
