Jog-A-Thon is one of McKinley’s biggest fundraising events that raises funds for our IB Program and WHEEL classes such as Art, Ceramics, Dance, Garden, Music, and Spanish. These programs are not funded by the district and are completely funded by fundraising events such as Jog-A-Thon.

We are excited to announce that this year, Jog-A-Thon will take place in-person on Thursday Oct 27th, 2022.

All students will be receiving a FREE Jog-A-Thon t-shirt! In the past, students had to purchase them or earn them by raising a certain amount of money. We feel strongly that all students should have a free t-shirt to wear to the event to show their McKinley spirit and foster a sense of community.

This week, students will be participating in a t-shirt design contest where the winning design will be printed on all the Jog-A-Thon t-shirts. The t-shirt contest is great fun, though participation is voluntary. Drawings are done during class hours and must be done completely by the student. Parents and teachers may not help with this project.

Each class will vote for ONE winning picture to be submitted for their class. And, in response to community feedback, students will also get to vote on the top finalist designs.

This year, we have chosen the IB Learner Profile “Open Minded” as a theme. The design should highlight respect of all cultures and values, an openness to different points of view, and a willingness to grow.

Families: Don’t worry, there is nothing you need to do or bring for this design contest. However, this could be an opportunity to spark a conversation about open-mindedness and McKinley with your child.

More information about Jog-A-Thon will be coming soon! In the meantime, if you have any questions you can email the Jog-A-Thon Committee at jogathonmckinley@gmail.com.
