The 7th Annual Whole School McKinley Campout & Movie Night is happening at the Joint Use Park on Friday, May 15th – Saturday, May 16th, 2026! 

Set up will begin at 4 pm on Friday, May 15. You can arrive any time before sunset to set up your tent (we suggest the earlier the better). Tent spaces are first-come, first-served. But all the spots are great – it’s a park after all. Don’t worry, we will not run out of space! *keep area around the movie screen clear of tents so folks can set up chairs and blankets to watch the movie. 

We will provide dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday morning. Volunteers will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner. Please bring beverages and any other food your family would like.  Class of 2027 (current 4th graders) will be selling concessions to kick off their 5th-grade fundraising for next school year. Breakfast will be Coffee, Pancakes, Sausage, and such.

No one is required to pay anything, and we won’t be tracking who pays or not, but in the interest of being a revenue-neutral event due to Foundation Budget constraints, we need some $ to cover the costs:

Parks & Rec Permit: $418.00

Portable restrooms & handwash stations: $670

Propane: $65

Food (burgers & hot dogs, buns, pancakes, bacon) & serving supplies: $990

Coffee: $285

Schedule

4:00 pm Setup can begin, arrive any time (plenty of space for everyone)
5:45 pm Dinner served (FREE, plenty for all)
7:30 pm Movie Starts: Goat, Rated PG
9:30 pm Lights OUT / Quiet Time
6 am-ish Coffee & Breakfast (FREE) / Pack Up
9 am ALL TENTS OUT OF PARK/CLEAN UP

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are crucial to pulling this event off, so please sign up to help! We don’t need a LOT of volunteers, but we need folks interested in having fun and getting a few specific jobs done.

Important Details

  • You don’t have to spend the night! Come for the fun, the food, the film- then you can go home. You can even come back in the morning if you’d like! Sleeping on-site is not required.
  • We will have rented portable restrooms on-site.
  • This is not an overly organized event; please bring supplies you and your family need to be comfy. We will provide what’s stated above.
  • You can bring all your own food; you don’t have to eat what is served. (bring a pizza, dinner from home, etc)
  • The movie will be: Goat, Rated PG (100-minute run time)

The No-No List

  • NO PETS – please leave all pets at home!
  • NO E-Bikes at the JUP during Camp Out
  • NO fires or heating elements
  • NO tent stakes in the grass
  • NO smoking on park property
