Hello McKinley Families!

The 3rd Annual McKinley Camp Out is happening on Friday, June 10th – Saturday, June 11th at the Joint Use Park at McKinley.

This is tons of fun! Let’s celebrate making it through the last few years, shall we?

Set up will begin at 3:30pm on Friday, June 10th. You can arrive any time before sunset to set up your tent (although I suggest the earlier the better). Tent spaces are first-come, first served. But all of the spots are great – it’s a park 🙂

The volunteers will be serving burgers, hot dogs, and vegetarian meal options. Please bring any side dishes, beverages, etc that you and your family would like. Breakfast will be pancakes, and bacon. Earth-friendly tip: Bring your own plates, utensils, reusable water bottles, and cloth napkins.

This is not a fundraiser, and there is NO COST to attend this event! The McKinley community has been fundraising all year, and this is a fun family event for all to enjoy put together by volunteers!

** Principal Ganderton’s Farewell Celebration will take place at the Camp Out from 6-7pm. Please be sure to join the fun ceremony we have planned as we say so long to our adored Principal. More info on that soon, but please bring a card for her- there will be a box to collect them all at the event. **

A few more FAQs

  1. No, you don’t have to spend the night! Come for the fun, the farewell, the food, the film- then you can go home 🙂 You can even come back in the morning if you’d like! Sleeping on site is NOT required.
  2. We will have rented portable restrooms on-site.
  3. This is not an overly-organized event, please bring supplies you and your family need to be comfy. We will provide what’s stated above.
  4. We will post a suggested packing list, and some tips based on feedback from previous camp-outs, and will have a place where families can offer to loan extra tents / sleeping bags to those who don’t have them so everyone can participate who wish to! This info will be sent out soon.
  5. You can bring all your own food, you don’t have to eat what is served. (bring a pizza, dinner from home, etc)
  6. The movie that will be shown is TBD but it will be rated G or PG.

No-no list

NO PETS!, no fires or heating elements, no tent stakes in the grass, no smoking on park property.
