PTC Meetings This Year

We’re planning four PTC meetings this school year, each with a different focus. Our first meeting, McKinley 101, will be Wednesday, August 26, at 6 p.m. Led by Megan and Steve, co-PTC presidents, families can meet PTC leaders, learn about our committees and programs, and discover ways to get involved with a fun speed dating session.

Future meetings will feature topics of interest to McKinley families, such as IB, Wheel programs and student wellness. We also plan to host a social gathering in January focused on building community and connecting families.

Like this newsletter, our meetings will be brief and focused on the most important and interesting information. We’ll have free Character Builders and pizza available for the kiddos while you attend the meeting.

Run Club Returns September 28!

McKinley Run Club is tentatively scheduled to begin Monday, September 28, 8:05–8:20 a.m. at the Joint Use Park (JUP). All students are welcome and no sign-up is required. Students enrolled in PrimeTime will be escorted to the track by a PrimeTime staff member.

After-School Enrichment Update for 2026–27

We’re excited that the expansion of PrimeTime will provide free, Monday-through-Friday after-school care to more McKinley families this year.

To make room for this expanded childcare program, McKinley will not offer its traditional Thursday After-School Enrichment (ASE) classes during the 2026–27 school year. We know ASE has been a valued part of the McKinley experience, and we understand that some families will be disappointed by this change.

Please note that Dance Team will continue as a separate, limited-capacity program. Dance Team is independently operated and is not a PTC- or school-run program. For all Dance Team questions, please reach out to Viviana Alcazar at h2a.dance@gmail.com. Thank you for your flexibility as McKinley prioritizes accessible, consistent after-school care for more families.

Know a Business That Could Sponsor Jog-A-Thon?

The Jog-a-thon is coming up Thursday, Oct. 22, and we need our McKinley community’s help connecting with potential sponsors. Local businesses and community partners can support our first major fundraiser of the year while receiving recognition on student and staff T-shirts, campus banners, and PTC web and social channels.

FOUND Group Meetup

Join the Families of the Unique and NeuroDivergent (FOUND) community group meetup!

  • Monday, August 24
  • Montclair Park (located at the end of Nile Street)
  • 5 p.m.

This support and learning community welcomes neurodivergent children, families and community members from North Park and South Park. Monthly gatherings alternate between casual park meetups and discussions at Little Bird Brewing. Learn more at foundfamilies.org.
