Why do we have a Scholastic Book Fair?
We’ve looked at other book fair vendors and Scholastic provides us with the best deal on our book sales. 50% of ALL the funds raised at the Book Fair go directly back to our school library. These funds are the main source of funding that keep our library current. Additionally, we wouldn’t do this if we were not sure that every child would receive a book and we all get to feel some seriously awesome book fair magic.
What do you need to do to prepare?
Every child will receive a free book during their class visit, as well as some free book fair swag from the library committee like fun erasers and stickers.
If your child would like to purchase more books during their class visit, the easiest and safest way to do that is to set up an EWallet. This allows your student to shop the Book Fair themselves. Often it’s their very first time shopping on their own, and they get to learn about keeping to a budget and the factoring in tax. Our volunteers help your child with any questions they have – and if you are cleared to volunteer (level B) you can sign up with your child’s teacher to help your classroom shop.
