Hello McKinley Community!
This year’s Jog-A-Thon was a record breaking success. The students, as a whole, ran 4,160 laps which equates to approximately 693.33 miles! That’s roughly one-fourth the distance across the contiguous United States and if we’re talking landmarks, from McKinley to the center of Utah!
As a school and community we raised a total of $93,073.28 (after expenses), which is the most ever raised in McKinley Jog-A-Thon history!
We were able to meet all of our fundraising goals.
$60,000 – Fruit Trees (GARDEN) : Ms. Marney has already purchased the trees and has started planting them during garden.
$70,000 – Lunch-time Mariachi Band (SPANISH, MUSIC) – The mariachi band will perform during lunch this Wednesday, Nov 17!
$80,000 – Classroom Dance party (DANCE) – We’re coordinating with Ms. Ganderton on ideas which will hopefully happen in December.
$90,000 – School Mural (ART) – We’re in communications with an art muralist who will be painting a mural hopefully in December/January.
$92,000 – JEDI Library Project – We were able to help fund the JEDI Library Project which will provide a carefully curated collection of books focusing on different cultures and identities every month.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of students, teachers, staff, the JAT Committee, and of course YOU: parents, family members, businesses, and community friends. We are so fortunate to have such a generous and kind community! Congratulations McKinley Students and THANK YOU!
