Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week will be May 3rd to May 7th. We are so very grateful every year for our amazing teachers and staff and this year they have once again shown us why we are so lucky to be at McKinley! So let’s come together to thank and celebrate this amazing group of dedicated teachers and staff!

How can your family help?

Chalk Thank Yous & Drawings
Anytime May 1st or May 2nd head up to McKinley with your family and write a message of thanks in front of the main office and gates so on Monday the teachers and staff start off the week with an extra special welcome. We will have a few buckets of chalk set out but you are welcome to bring your own from home.

Bring in gratitude cards on Tuesday May 4th (National Teacher Day)
One way we are asking everyone to participate is by having students make cards and parents write thank you notes for their classroom teacher. Cards for support staff, admin and the custodian team are also welcomed and encouraged. Let’s let them know how much they are appreciated.

Online Students – Drop off cards in the box near the main doors from April 26th-May 3rd
Onsite Students -Bring in cards to campus on Tuesday, May 4th – National Teacher Day, or drop off in advance (see above)

Help with special surprises
In addition to notes of gratitude, in years past McKinley parent volunteers (with the help of the PTC) would traditionally provide a breakfast buffet, catered lunch and raffle prizes for all teachers and staff. We would like to still honor these traditions but adjust them slightly for these pandemic times. We are in the process of scheduling a few different food trucks to arrive on campus that week as well as purchase gift cards and raffle prizes.

If you would like to contribute to these surprises, please contact Laura Blount (Room Parent Coordinator) at or contribute funds through Venmo @Laura-K-Blount.

If you have any questions, additional ideas or would like to help us in these efforts please email Laura Blount (Room Parent Coordinator) at

Thanks in advance for all your help making sure our teachers and staff know how much we appreciate all they do for our students!
