Last Saturday, many girls from 3rd, 4th & 5th grade along with their parents rode the bus to SDSU for a day of fun and excitement. Every year the San Diego State University has an event to honor Title IX, a provision that allowed equal access for girls in sports and facilities across the country. I can personally remember my friends being the first to have the choice – did they want to play baseball or softball? By the time I got to high school, a female wrestler was a guest on the Johnny Carson show because she was the first to participate in California at the high school level against the boys! I had fully intended to open up the invitation to the school community after I accepted permission slips from the interested students. The the first 100 tickets I got went so fast I had to go pick up 25 more, and then those were gone as well. So I’m blessed to say that this has become quite an event, and I’m looking forward to going again next year. I’ll plan on ordering more tickets next time, and the event is always held at the end of January or beginning of February in order to commemorate the signing of the law many years ago. Thanks for all the support, and thank you to the PTC for the transportation!
