Vision 2020 Forum
The Board of Education and Superintendent Cindy Marten invite all stakeholders to a series of neighborhood meetings to Dream Big together for the future of our schools. The next forum is this Saturday, March 1st, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Patrick Henry High School (6702 Wandermere Dr. 92120).
The “Vision 2020 Forums: What Kinds of Schools Do We Want” series offer parents, staff, students, and community members an opportunity to give input to the superintendent and the board members on priorities for our students and schools. The forums will focus on three guiding questions:
- What do we believe is working on our path to accomplishing Vision 2020?
- What do we feel and/or think should be improved upon in order to accomplish our Vision 2020?
- How will we work together to accomplish our Vision 2020?
Childcare and translation services will be available. Please RSVP on district website.

Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Celebration
This Monday, March 3rd, we will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with various activities around campus.
Students are invited to wear pajama’s to school. (All students must still wear shoes.)

McKinley Variety Show 2014
Thursday, March 6th, 6:00 p.m. at the North Park Theatre, 2891 University Ave.
Kids to be at the theatre 5:00 p.m. stage ready (costumes on, hair done, etc.), with snack/dinner and something to keep them occupied.
No parents, except volunteers, are allowed in the theatre until the theatre doors open at 5:45 pm. No exceptions.

Adventure Club Hike Rescheduled
Due to wet weather, Coach Lunsford has reschedule the Torrey Pines hike to next weekend. We hope you can join us. This is a great opportunity for McKinley families to get together and explore San Diego’s great outdoors.
Saturday, March 8th @ 9:30am – Hike Torrey Pines State Reserve. Meet at the visitor center parking lot (see website for parking info – try to carpool) on top of the crest. Bring snacks, water and a camera as the group descends the cliff to the beach below and discover the tide pools filled with crabs & anemones. Help Coach decide on which trail to take.
