The McKinley Magpie began nearly 100 years ago, and we recently brought it back for a new generation of student reporters.
Today, fifth graders report on school life, interview members of the McKinley community and write stories for students and families. They choose topics that interest them, ask questions, check facts, write headlines and edit their work. The Magpie gives students a real audience for their writing and a chance to make their voices heard. It builds curiosity, confidence and teamwork while helping our school community see McKinley through students’ eyes.
