McKinley Theatre Company (MTC) Presents:
The Big Bad Musical – a howling courtroom
Performance Dates: March 5 – 8, 2026
We are thrilled to announce auditions for this year’s school musical, The Big Bad Musical! This is an exciting opportunity for our 3rd–5th grade students to shine on stage, work together as a cast and crew, and bring this fun production to life.
Audition Information
– Date: Wednesday, November 6th
– Time: 12:00 PM – 6:30 PM
– Location: McKinley (specific room to be announced soon)
– Callback: Possible, at a date to be determined
– Who Can Audition: Students in 3rd–5th grade. Lead roles will be prioritized for 5th
graders, followed by 4th graders, then 3rd graders.
– You only need to add name to one tab, even if you are considering both a lead or
ensemble – we will announce cast list after call backs.
What to Prepare:
A short 1-minute song to sing (student’s choice) – please have prepared and keep to 1
min –you only have to prepare a 1-min song if you are auditioning for a lead role. If you
are auditioning for ensemble, you will only audition the dance part during your time slot.
Script reading (materials will be provided at the audition)
A group choreography round (no preparation needed – a short movement section will
be taught at audition)
Cast & Crew
We will cast a total of 50 students: unfortunately, some might not be cast due to cast limit

- 31 ensemble members
- 5 crew members
Cast of Characters Includes: all roles can be any gender
- Sydney Grimm – flashy cable news reporter
- Fairy Godmother – self-righteous lawyer with a sweet facade
- Little Red Riding Hood – spoiled with attitude
- Grandmother Hood – ready for retirement
- The Three Pigs – ranging from not bright to highly intelligent
- Bill Woodcutter – self-obsessed, competitive lumberjack
- Shepherd – kind and steady
- Boy Who Cried Wolf – disrespectful delinquent
- Big Bad Wolf – cool and confident
- The Wolfettes – back-up singers & ensemble swings
- Judge Wise Old Person – doddering fool
- Evil Stepmother – high-powered lawyer
- Miss Muffit – neurotic psychiatrist and wolf expert
- Ensemble – back-up singers and dancers
Rehearsals
Wednesdays: 3:00 – 5:00 PM
Thursdays: 2:00 – 4:00 PM
Show dates
o Thursday March 5th – school show
o Friday March 6th and Saturday March 7th – evening performances
o Saturday March 8th – matinee
Once the cast is announced, families will receive a detailed rehearsal schedule outlining which
days and times your child will be called for the entire rehearsal process. Not all cast members
will be required for all rehearsals.
Production Fee
This year, there will be a $200 production fee per cast member. The Director (Jennifer Berry)
and the co-chairs (Jennifer Berry and Sara Geltman) are volunteer-based; the fee goes directly
toward production costs (sets, music, music direction, costumes, scripts, etc.). Payment
instructions will be shared through the McKinley Foundation once casting is finalized.
