The Book Fair is coming early this year, in time for your holiday shopping! Thursday, December 12th is opening night* from 5-8pm (open to all McKinley Families) during the NEW Winter Social – with lots of free events for the whole family.
*Credit Card and Cash only please on opening night during the Winter Social. Save the eWallets for in-class visits please
In-Class visits are December 13th-18th (Fri, Mon, Tue, Wed) eWallet and cash only during class visits.
How to Prepare for the Book Fair
Every child will receive a free book during their class visit, as well as some free book fair swag from the library committee like bookmarks, erasers and stickers. If your child would like to purchase more books during their class visit, the easiest and safest way to do that is to set up an EWallet. This allows you to load up your student’s account with a few extra bucks so that they get to shop the fair themselves. This has been so fun for the kids – often it’s their very first time shopping on their own, and they get to learn about keeping to their budget and the oh so fun reality of factoring in tax.
Our volunteers help your child with any questions they have – and if you are cleared to volunteer (level B) you can signup with your child’s teacher to help your classroom shop. Easy eWallet set up HERE. Cash is also accepted during school hours, but sometimes cash can get misplaced, so please be mindful.

Why Do We Have a Scholastic Book Fair?
We’ve looked around! Scholastic provides us with an amazing deal on our book sales. 50% of ALL the funds raised at the Book Fair go directly back to our school library. These funds are one of the main sources of funding keeping our library updated and relevant.
Additionally, we wouldn’t do this if we were not sure that every child would receive a book. All students receive a free book during their class visit, something scholastic helps us do in real time to ensure that a huge portion of our total sales goes directly back into the hands of our students, while also getting to feel some seriously awesome book fair magic.
