PTC Meeting Recap & Survey

It was great to see so many new and familiar faces at the first McKinley PTC Meeting of the year!  The discussion and participation were very much appreciated.  The majority of the meeting centered on the transitions that will be necessary during the pandemic and the potential for a virtual after-school enrichment program. As requested, a copy of the meeting presentation and the presentations from Dig Down Deep and Zavoral Music Studios are provided below.

Funding & Planning:

The PTC’s major fundraising committees, Jog-a-thon, SoNo, & Gala have been busy planning their transition to virtual events.  Due to the continuing pandemic, it is unlikely the normally high-level fundraising results from Jog-a-thon and SoNo will be achieved this year.  With these fundraising limitations in mind, the Foundation is taking a cautious but focused approach to enrichment and spending.

Enrichment:

PTC funding was used for enrichment classes this year.  You may have noticed your child/ren began Spanish and Dance classes this month.  Funding was also approved for monthly Art lessons for all students including the cost of art supplies.  Unfortunately, the limited instructional time (both synchronous and asynchronous) while distance learning did not allow for the continuation of all of the enrichment options that have been provided at McKinley in the past (ie. garden, ceramics and/or music).

Survey Request:        Deadline October 1

While these other enrichment classes may not be available during instructional time there appears to be some interest in continuing these classes virtually after-school.  Please review the materials that were provided by the Garden and Music vendors.  They contain a brief overview of what their lessons would be like.  After your review please submit a response to the survey below.

The survey will close on Thursday, October 1st

Your participation and input are key to determining the programs that are funded by the McKinley PTC.  There are approximately 525 students and perhaps over 400 families at McKinley. Our goal is to obtain 250 or more individual responses to the survey.  Please tell your fellow McKinley “framilies” to submit a response.
