Joint Use Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony May 23, 2017
Groundbreaking May 9, 2016
Speakers were School Superintendent Cindy Marten, School Board Member Richard Barrera, City Councilman Todd Gloria, and Principal Deb Ganderton
Previously: (2014) The City of San Diego Park and Recreation Board approved the General Development Plan for the Joint Use Park at McKinley. This is a great victory after YEARS of hard work by parents, staff, and our amazing community to create a plan that balances the needs of the students and community as well as providing TREES and a large natural turf area for all to enjoy!
A joint-use park provides a number of improvements to the school grounds as well as making the southern end of the campus a city park that is open to neighbors after-school and on the weekends. The project makes a positive impact on the school and the neighborhood community.
