Phase Two – What I Know Right Now

Dear McKinley Families,

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Family Preference Survey. There was a significant increase in the number of surveys returned which was appreciated.

I want to reach out with an unofficial update.

I recognize that there is still a great deal of ambiguity about what school will look like when your children return. That, understandably, makes it especially challenging for you as you attempt to establish arrangements for child care, work commitments and a myriad of other logistics inherent in functioning as a family.

I do want to share what I know at this point in time. As I write this early Friday evening, bargaining between SDEA and the District continues with the understanding that school will not be in session five days a week.

Once negotiations have concluded and principals have received direction regarding the model our district will adopt, we will be communicating that to our staff and our parent population as quickly as possible.

After that decision has been communicated, a second survey will be sent which will allow you to provide additional feedback regarding what will work best for your child.

I want to assure you, if you send your child back, we will be ready. If you opt to continue to access online instruction only, we will continue to work to support you in your home to the best of our ability. Regardless of your decision, your child will be embraced with open arms.

I will continue to update you as information becomes available.

In partnership,
Deb Ganderton
