Dear McKinley Families,

Some parents had questions when they noticed that our exterior water fountains (and several interior fountains as well) had been tagged late yesterday.

Although we anticipated being tested again, we didn’t anticipate all exterior fountains being tagged for testing. That startled us because we had not made arrangements for our after school program to access bottled water.

The last time we were tested, we were below the state/federal norms, but the district implemented even stricter standards and scheduled a second round of testing.

I contacted the district yesterday afternoon and expressed concern about all exterior fountains being off limits. They explained that testing would be conducted at 5:30 A.M. this morning and tags would be removed so staff and students had access to water.

The sampling at McKinley is part of a districtwide program to conduct “whole site” sampling within the next 3 to 5 years.

We should be getting the sampling results in approximately 2 weeks, after review, the results will be forwarded to our school community via this website, PTC Facebook, and Room Parents.
