San Diego Unified is implementing minimum day schedules at many schools including McKinley on Tuesday, Sept. 16, due to the continued heat wave in terms of temperatures, humidity and the heat index. Schools on regular day schedules (see list) are expected to operate under our Hot Weather Plan guidelines.
The decision to operate these schools on a minimum day is once again based on information and guidelines from the National Weather Service (NWS) indicating local temperatures of 95 and higher, with a heat index of 103 and higher – a combination termed by the NWS as “dangerous” health conditions. See the latest regional advisory here and our strong commitment to the safety and well-being of our students.
The district will closely monitor forecasted conditions for Wednesday.
