Our Garden Grows

On October 22, 2010, twenty fruit trees were planted at McKinley.  Thanks to the donations of the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, the children’s garden now contains 3 fruit trees, planted by the 2nd graders, and there is a new fruit tree grove at the south end of the school grounds.  The trees consisted of pomegranate, fig, peach, pear, lowquat, lemon and orange trees.  More than a dozen parents, led by the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation staff, helped with the plantings.  Many thanks to parent Jon Rogers for his quick action to make this tree donation feasible at McKinley.  Even principal Julie Ashton-Gray pitched in to help our garden grow.
